Modern Horror Short Story by Matthew Holness

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster (love the site by the way!).

After spending a bit too long googling darkplace to see what else these geniuses have done, I found a link to a new book of short stories that will be published on 1st March called "Phobic - Modern Horror Stories" by Comma Press (link here: [url][sign in to see URL]

Blurb about the book from the Comma website:

quote:

Where does fear lurk in 21st century life? In a technological age hardwired to keep information flowing and the unknown at bay, what irrationalities still linger for horror writers to tap into? This anthology - the first in a new series from Comma - offers 15 very different responses to the question. From ancient curses kept alive in internet chat-rooms to malevolent children's TV characters acquiring lives of their own, Phobic shines a torch into the unlit areas of the modern subconscious and suggests the more we know, the more we realise how worried we really should be.

Some of the other authors include HANIF KUREISHI, JEREMY DYSON (League of Gentlemen) and Doctor Who writer ROBERT SHEARMAN.

The site says this is Matt's first piece of published fiction. Can't wait to see whether it's a serious straight piece of writing or in the style of Garth Marenghi.

Ooh. Thanks for the heads up. I've been wondering what he's been up to.

Any other treasures from your Google adventures? Heh.

Yeah, I spend far too much time on google!

There are tickets available from [sign in to see URL] to see the IT Crowd tv recording - there are 3 dates so far: 30 March, 14 April and 20 April.

Also some one posted on another forum (can't remember which one) that they saw the recording of the US pilot show last week and that Richard Ayoade was fantastic. I'd like to know if he keeps the same accent or does an American one.

Going to see Hot Fuzz tonight so will be looking out for Alice Lowe emoticon

Darn, you beat me to posting about Alice's appearance in Hot Fuzz. Hopefully I'll finally be able to get down to London (finally) for the IT crowd recording, maybe I'll see some of you down there.
