Plans for U.S. Release?

I'm new here and I'm very pleased to meet you all.

Could anyone tell me if there is going to be a U.S. release (Region 1) of the Darkplace DVD?

The show has become a cult hit over here late night on the SciFi Channel,
[sign in to see URL], and I would love to own a copy of the series for myself.

Thank you in advance for your help and responses.

Welcome!

Sadly we're battling for Region 2 ourselves, so don't hold your breath emoticon

Thanks for the welcome and the info.

I logged onto [sign in to see URL] and saw that it has a release date that is a long way off. Sadly, There isn't a listing for it anywhere in the U.S. or any of the U.S. DVD websites.

Unfortunately, we don't have much original programing on television here as there is in the UK, Europe, Australia, Canada, or Japan. It's pretty sad really. In fact, most of our most popular television shows in recent memory have been rip-off's of shows made in other countries. It's an indictment of how unoriginal Hollywood has become here, and why most of our big stars come from abroad as well as filming most of our feature films abroad.

However, we do have a few rays of hope like the SciFi channel that brings us stuff from other countries. Darkplace by far is my favorite, but they brought us the new Dr. Who (w/Chris Eccleston & Billie Piper), as well as others I cannot think of right now.

Oh well, thanks again for the info, but I'll be around to check for news.

If you look at the DVD threads on here you'll see the battle we've faced (and until last week we thought it was going to be released in less than a weeks time)

Glad to see the US is finally getting shows from other countries. I think the internet is making the world smaller and American TV execs aren't so scared of other culture references.

Being from the States, I would rather get cosmic broccoli than watch our network television. Even on SciFi they are showing Darkplace at weird and inconsistant times, and on the [sign in to see URL] website it is super hard to find. It's like they aren't advertising it hardly at all (just check out the site to see what I mean) and you have to search "darkplace" to get info on SciFi showing it. Although, and this is GREAT news, is if you get to the [sign in to see URL] Darkplace page, You can watch the entire unedited first episode of Darkplace!! It's great quality and unedited ("Am I holding a crock of !@#$? Is this hospital called St. crock of !@#$?")
I have seen this episode waaaay too much. hahaha...
As for people in the States getting it, I can assure you that the people that would watch a show like Darkplace get the hell out of it. Although most of our dumbarses would not, I can assure you also. I do have to admit that some things that are regional are not that easy to get (Ie; Romford, Essex Girls, etc.)
If you want to laugh at the stupidity of some of us here in America (as if you need more reasons)then check out the forums on the [sign in to see URL] Darkplace message boards. Even I can't believe some of the questions (like some guy really wondering if the actress that played Liz died in Eastern Europe, Or forum trolls complaining about the "flaws" in the acting, editing, directing. Dammit, those "flaws" are pure art!)
Ok, maybe we all don't get it. But I sure as heck do, and for me that is all that counts.
Damn you, Darkplace for not lasting 10 years like some absolute crap show like Stargate!

Here is my great solution. I purchased a DVD recorder and I am recording it all, so I can play each episode over, and over, and over, and over, and over and over, and over, and over, and over, and....
