BBC3 Vs CH4

Cant help but think Dark Place would have faired better on BBC3! It seems they are more willing to give more obscure comedies a chance (and repeat!) Infact i think BBC3 have taken the mantle from ch4 in giving the non mainstream a chance?

CH4 channel (E4 ect)just seem to have endless re runs of the OC and Superman the early years type programmes! They are all so similar they merge into 1!

yer the beeb wins hands down at the moment, its been said before on here and i agree, darkplace would have been pushed better on bbc3, and im sure there would have already been a 2nd series under our belt!
ch4 are only bothered about importing american tripe! while bbc 3 nurtures uk comedy, and 9 times outta 10 it will get a bbc2 slot. theres only been 3 great comedys on ch4 in recent years, pheonix nights, peep show, darkplace. now if bbc had them 3 aswell, they would be unstoppable!

hear hear. i couldnt agree more with the above 2 posts. i watched an episode from greenwing on c4 last night, and i've said it before and i'll say it again- it is absolute wank. how that programme got a second series and garth marenghi didnt even get a decent slot for the first, is a travasty. i put it down to the fact the the pitiful majority of the british population are slack-jawed, brain dead yokels, who only tune in to watch the those poor excuses of comedy shows whose humour their uncultured minds can understand. eg. greenwing.

Hmm maybe. I dont like BBC3 stuff though. The only thing Iv watched on there in the past 6 months is Anthea Turner Perfect Housewive haha. And I adore ch4.

But on the other hand, they would show more [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] would have all our TV lisence money to spend on darkplace...

Any place other than CH4/E4. After their obsession with pushing Chantelle off Big Brother onto every bloody programme - I've lost all respect I used to have for the channel.

i dunno... peep show, green wing, garth marenghi are but a few excellent comedies that have come out on CH4, BBC has produced Mighty Boosh, but im afraid thats all in my opinion. I'm not a fan of little britain and other programs such as 'the smoking room' and endless reruns of 'two pints of lager and a packet of crisps' are really starting to get on my tits. Why do these people think they are funny... they started out (most of them) on hollyoaks with no talent and they clearly havent progressed.

The IT crowd was my only recent dissapointment with CH4, this promised so much but didn't deliver in the slightest, if half the advertising budget put into that was put into darkplace, it certainly would have received the critical acclaim it deserves,

savour.

I must say I dislike both channels, however you cannot shift all blame onto them as what comes through sometimes is terrible to no fault of their own and could be just the best of a bad bunch.

The last comedy I used to watch on BBC3 was Mighty Boosh and that stopped, haven't had the time to watch Snuff Box, but I've heard it's good.

So really the only comedy shows I watch on TV nowadays is Green Wing, which I think is fantastic and only seems to be getting better and Nevermind the Buzzcocks, which I've watched religiously since the start.

I prefer watching BBC 3, so yes, I reckon Darkplace would've done better there.

This topic needs a poll.

It definately would have faired better on BBC Three. They only have a certain amount of shows that they can broadcast, so have to cycle through them regularly. So it would have got many plays ala Mighty Boosh

Saying that, I always prefer the stuff Channel 4 come up with.

Plus I can't help but think Darkplace is better than anything any of the guys have gone on to do on BBC Three (AC/BC, Snuff Box, Mighty Boosh, etc) as fine as they were

AD/BC and snuffbox were very good.. I agree with that. I'm not a huge fan of the BBC sometimes though, they are pushing two pints of lager as much as CH4 pushed the IT crowd.

also.... maybe this should be in another topic but i've heard rumour that deanos after dark will be called 'man to man'... not sure tho, this could be refering to another program currently in production.
