yeah whats the deal with that?! £500,000 per episode?! surely not?

Plus with big names such as Armando Iannucci backing Dark Place, you wouldve thought someone would pick it up? Its so much funnier than most of the comedy on at the mo! Must say am enjoying the new series of the boosh!

500,000? I wouldn't be suprised. TV drama costs a lot of money.

I wonder if Channel 4 has spent this years comedy budget on promoting Green Wing's second series and DVD in all the full-page newspaper adverts.

Yeah, and then they bought five hundred naked chicks for a thousand pounds a piece. Or a thousand fat naked chicks for five hundred pounds a piece.

Darkplace was shot on film.

This was cheap in the 80's. These days it's really expensive. Like REALLY expensive.

As for the film, only a script was commissioned (i.e. someone paid them to write a script). I guess if the DVD's a success they'll think about doing something with it.

they really should, i mean when most shows get turned into movies they suck because it always just feels like the writers have stretched a half an hour's worth of jokes into a full hour... but when you consider how many jokes they crammed into a half hour episode of darkplace even if they stretched it, it would still be god damn funny.....

and anyway, what else are they going to make a movie of? cheaper by the dozen 3?...

Oh, yes, you gotta have some o' that Cheaper by the Dozen! emoticon (At least 50% of that sentence was sarcasm)

I'm not sure about stickdeath's point. The reason Darkplace was consistently funny is because the jokes are so close together. One sets you up, the next one makes you cough out a laugh, the third has you giggling, and the fourth wrapping masking tape around yourself to keep your sides from splitting.

I think if these were spread out, it may not have the same effect. But, I reckon a Darkplace film would be written as good as the series.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention I bought industrial masking tape.

You might need to see a doctor about those sides.
