Yeah, that's a beaut.

God, I can see the Darkplace DVD becoming like the Holy Grail.

Maybe that's what the plot of the new Indiana Jones film is, and that's why it's delayed...

This is fantastic news, although i have just been reading the forum sci-fi created for the show, and i think the stupid americans need a little encouragement. May i suggest we all join the forum and whip up a frenzy.

Also, Channel4(or BBC4 as the americans call it?? idiots) should hang there heads in shame. In America it's got a Thursday night primetime 9pm slot, just after the new Superheroe x factor show. Compare that to C4's [sign in to see URL] Tuesday showing, THE SWINES!!!

Come on folks, lets do [sign in to see URL]!!!!

Hey you tossers,

Darkplace is the funniest show I've seen in a long time. It's fuckin awesome. The parody factor is so good, I questioned if any of the actors are even British. After reading Wikipedia & this site, I could see this is, indeed a British show. But how many of us from the U.S. actually think Channel 4 is a Beeb station?

Cheers,

elcaset

The American website puts mine to shame, but hopefully it'll attract more member to our long standing forum... or kill us, who knows?

To clear up the BBC-America thing for us lot let me explain: the Beeb (BBC) have a channel in the states (and Canada I believe) called BBC America which shows BBC programs but also channel 4 and itv programs they buy the rights to show in North America. However Darkplace is being shown on sci-fi so this is irrelevant.

BTW the word tossers isn't very nice, neither is wankers. I know we use them alot in the uk but thats cos we aint friendly. emoticon Try Chaps instead - you'll always get a good response to that.

Re: US Link

Hey everybody,

Sorry about the tossers comment. I spent some time in Glasgow (I loved it!), and while tossers seems to be more of an English term, a lot of Glaswegians swear a lot at & with their mates (without any ill intent). I didn't realise this forum has a more polite tone.

Another thing I wanted to clear up: in my previous post I said: "Darkplace is the funniest show I've seen in a long time. It's ****in awesome. The parody factor is so good, I questioned if any of the actors are even British. After reading Wikipedia & this site, I could see this is, indeed a British show."

When I said this, I should have worded it differently, because now I realise it could be misread as meaning Brits don't make good parodies. I literally meant, the parody factor is so good, and the thing about it having been made in the 80s, and the voices being intentionally exagerated, that maybe some of these actors are using fake British accents ala James Marsters, Mike Myers, etc. Once I could see the show was made for Channel 4, I figured, while their voice performances are hilariously exagerated, the actors probably are British.

Over the years, I've found some of my fav shows to be British. I love Scottish sitcom Rab C Nesbitt, The Avengers, Doctor Who (new & original), Blake's 7, Survivors (1970s), those Channel 4 documentaries on the porn Industry, Long Way Round, BBC nature documentaries, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Neverwhere etc.

I can't afford to subscribe to BBC America. I've only seen a few hours of it at a mate's house in NYC (I live near Seattle). Now that I know BBC America shows tv from the Beeb & Channel 4, & ITV, I can see why some fellow folks from the U.S. mistake Channel 4 for BBC 4. Methinks BBC America should should be renamed to something else!

A few of us folks in the Americas are trying to come up up with a better term(s) than "Americans" to describe people from the USA. After all, it's very USA-centric, & ambigous to refer to those of us in the USA as Americans. This leaves out everyone else in the rest of America (North, South, & Central America). Terms like [sign in to see URL] haven't caught on, so, for now, I often just say I'm from the US or USA, instead of saying I'm an American.

[sign in to see URL]'s description of BBC Canada is interesting (it shows both Canadian shows & BBC shows). On another Canadian note, If you haven't seen Da Vinci's Inquest, Da Vinci's City Hall, or ZED, I highly recommend them.

Is anyone a member of the darkplace forum on the sci-fi channels's site (in the top post)? Cos I think the poor few posting on that board need directing to a larger darkplace fan crowd (ie. Here) emoticon

I just saw that someone has posted a link here but I think they need more guidance towards the forum emoticon

I was also laughing at that fact that when after Liz does the dark eyes thing someone thought that Rick replied "Nice, but don't do that under water."

Yeah, that guy misheard the joke "just don't do that around the ward" but still his interpretation is funny.
I have to admit I thought the line "and live with day to day admin" was "and live with day to day acne". Although that is funny too.
