Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is at least in the league of this years critics favourite Little Britain which some would argue is just following Harry Enfield and Chums and The Fast Show. Darkplace was an original format. Better than Green Wing too.

Its a pity the show was never consider for any mainstream comedy awards, I think if there were to be a 2nd series the public may pay it more attention, its probabley too late now for the 1st series to get any awards.

channel 4 pretty much buried the series, and hardly gave it a push when it was 1st aired, unlike nathan barley and green wing which has more exposure in 1 day then darkplace had in its full run, even though they are not a patch on Darkplace.
People in the comedy buisness will know how good it is, especially as most of the cast have gone on to diffrent comedy projects.
Chris Morris and Armando Ianucci to name but 2 have used most of the cast in recent times

Green Wing possibly got more pre-publicity than Joey, and that's saying something. When I watched Green Wing, I could see original ideas and I generally like the actors, but I really didn't rate the show. Sadly the IMDb entry http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0397150/
reveals Darkplace garnered no awards or nominations. Tragedy.

I watched the 2005 British Comedy Awards recently. Green Wing was broadcast a similar time to Darkplace yet Green Wing was among the nominations and Darkplace was not. I think we should do something to protest. Perhaps we should do a petition (ipetition is a good site), that or attack a judge with a bowl of soup and a pork pie.

I thought Darkplace did get a BAFTA or at least a nomination for its music? Ok, it's not much, but it's something. Maybe I'll send them an award myself. A swan on a bit of !@#$ cardboard or something.
