My favourite film has to be "A Clockwork Orange" which actually is not as violent as people make out, it only contains the standard 11 minutes of violence allowed in the 70's. I like most of Stanley Kubricks films in fact.

I tend to like low budget weird films more than big block busters with no soul other than that.

I'm a massive, massive movie fan (and studying maker emoticon so it's pretty impossible for me to narrow down a faves list to less than 50 or so. But, if I had, HAD to have a top five, it'd probably be: 1) Almost Famous: Untitled directors cut 2) Harold and Maude 3) Back to the Future trilogy 4) Magnolia 5) Moulin Rouge!

They're personal favourites, mind, not necessarily greatly important/groundbreaking films. Just ones that make me dance the happy dance.

I couldn't agree more, A Clockwork Orange is a fantastic film, but I'd probably have to go for Dr Strangelove as my all time fav Kubrick masterpiece

My non Kubrick top 5 films (for now, it changes a lot)

5 : The Shawhank Redemption
4 : Laputa Castle in the Sky
3 : Leon
2 : The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
1 : Princess Mononoke

Never got into Laputa, prefer Kiki's Delivery Service myself. Although I prefer Princess Mononoke to that. And I prefer Spirited Away to that. Ahhh, Ghibli... I just bought My Neighbour Totoro, which is meant to be fantastic, so I shall let you know emoticon Porco Rosso after that, me thinks!

Re: Movies

I've not seen My Neighbour Totoro, but porco rosso is great, ive not seen the english version tho, be interesting to know what it sounds like. In the french version im fairly sure they have got Jean Reno playing Porco which is quite strange to hear

I guess Laputa has stuck with me because it was my first anime experience back in the depths of the 80s. The version I watched was english, but a dub they did for japanese airlines or something, quite well done, but no mark hamill playing [sign in to see URL] on the plus side they havnt got James Van Der Beek

Kiki's is a lovely film, so uneventful yet completely absorbing.

I think must be the only Ghibli fan in the world that isnt that keen on Spirited Away. Compared to most other films in the world its still amazing, just one of my least fav Ghibli productions. I might have to watch it back one of these days and check I judged it fairly

Princess Mononoke is a fantastic film yeh, I had Kiki's Delivery Service as well but never got round to watching it. My favourite film of all time has to be a certain Korean film called "Nowhere to Hide" used to watch it every week. Story is fairly bad but you just can't stop WATCHING it.
